Vijay Reddy is a Senior Trainer and has been involved in More To Life course work since she took her training in 1994. She has served as South Africa Centre Support, as a Kairos Foundation South Africa Board member, and is currently the MTL Interim Country Program Director for South Africa.
Vijay co-trained the first Power of Self-Esteem and Power of Purpose mentor courses in Kuwait with Arab men and women. She did the same in Brooklyn, New York, with Lubavitch men and women. She is a More To Life Coach and has clients based in various countries.
As an analyst-developer, Vijay had exposure to many different work contexts —all of which added to her capacity as an international coach and facilitator.
As I sat in my chair on my More To Life Weekend course in 1994, the year of our first democratic election in South Africa and the year of my own personal liberation, I felt the incredulity at the thought of wanting to be a Trainer of this work. It seemed an impossibility, given how amazing my Trainer Ann McMaster was, and given the deep grip of inferiority I felt as a so-called ‘second-class citizen’ in terms of both race and gender.
Experiencing my own breakthroughs and beholding the miraculous breakthroughs of those around me dislodged me from the despair and hopelessness with which I came into the Weekend. My narrow version of my life and the landscape of my mind shaped by rigid expectations, judgments, and demands were altered in radical and powerful ways. The tools, principles, and values I learned on that Weekend opened me to Life, gifting me with an ever-increasing capacity to partner with others, my loved ones, and with Life as it is.
I was deeply moved and inspired by the transformations I saw happen in such a short space of time. The indelible impressions I have of that Weekend of people standing taller and stronger, embracing themselves as they are, overcoming judgments and wounds from our pasts and seeing the humanity in each other, have been the stimulus for walking the privileged path of becoming a Trainer.
I have been blessed beyond my imagining with friends and path-mates who support me to keep finding my courage, passion, and compassion to be my most authentic self and to live my calling. I am humbled and honoured to be a part of a group of individuals who share a vision of “claiming our part in shaping an inheritable world where being loving, authentic, and human are the highest aspirations…”
