Moana has been involved in the More To Life Programme since 1999. She is a licenced facilitator for the Power of Self Esteem, Power of Purpose, and Power of Connection courses. She is a More To Life Professional Coach, coaching individuals and couples. She served on the New Zealand Executive Committee (NZEC) for three years and ran the original New Zealand More To Life website. She was the editor for Update, the New Zealand More To Life newsletter for many years.
When I took the Self Esteem Enhancement course (or SEE, as it was then called) in 1999, I realised I had unconsciously been basing my decisions on what I thought I should do in order to please others. The effect on me was profound. I was able to unravel old hurts and move forward with self-care and loving understanding, not only of myself and my needs, but also those of others. Each course I did was a catalyst for more growth. I was waking up to my unconscious mind and finding my true self, layer by layer. It is my privilege as a coach and facilitator to walk alongside others, supporting them to deepen their experiences and to get clarity and support regarding their next steps.
My background is both scientific and creative. I worked as a supervisor and microbiologist in the dairy industry in my early twenties, then built up a craft business, designing and selling quilt patterns and cross-stitch kits. In my thirties I moved into website design, desktop publishing, and photography, and in my forties, personal coaching. Now in my early fifties, I am writing a book for couples who want more connection and depth in their relationship, and developing an off-grid weekend retreat for couples with my husband Peter.
