Jo Maughan is a Mentor for the transformational 2-day course The Power of Self-Esteem. She trained to deliver it in 2013 and since then has taught it 2-4 times each year, mainly to professional men and women. Jo’s first career was as a Chartered Accountant and FTSE100 Tax Director. She moved into the world of personal development after doing her More To Life Weekend course and realised she liked the people part of her job more than the tax part. Jo set up her coaching and training business, YourThinkingPartner, in 2012.
In 2011, I was a stressed Tax Director at BP plc. I was finding my boss very difficult to work with and I would often be on the verge of tears. Something about how he was reminded me of my mum. I intuitively knew I had emotional ‘stuff’ to sort out from my childhood and that when I did, I would feel more confident at work. I took my MTL Weekend in January 2012 and it changed my life. What I liked most about it was how I now had tools to support and help me every day. I took The Power of Self-Esteem later that year, and began my Mentor training the following year. I taught my first Power of Self-Esteem course in 2014 and since then have taught regularly. I believe that enhancing one’s self-esteem is one of the most important pieces of personal work a person can do. It is a very special experience for me to be alongside the men and women who decide to work on enhancing their self-esteem, and I am hugely grateful when they trust me to accompany them. I love seeing them have what may be their first experience of breaking free from their ‘critical inner voice’ to experience themselves in a new, more authentic way.
